Materials & Care
Good tableware should not only look right on the table — it should also hold up in real life. This guide explains how we think about stainless steel grades, gold-tone finishes, and wenge wood handles, plus the simple care habits that help each piece last longer.
Stainless Steel Grades
Yinshiji uses stainless steel according to the product structure. Fork and spoon pieces in the carved collections use 304 stainless steel, while the carved-set dinner knife uses 410 stainless steel. Each product page lists the exact material for that SKU.
Why we use 304 where it matters most: 304 stainless steel is widely used for quality food-contact cutlery because it resists corrosion well and holds up to daily use. 410 stainless steel is used for the carved-set knives because knife structure and hardness requirements are different from forks and spoons.
Silver Tone & Gold Tone
The silver and gold collections are both stainless steel at their core. The difference is the surface presentation.
Silver tone is the most straightforward option for daily use: cleaner, quieter, easier to maintain, and visually closer to the natural look of polished steel.
Gold tone is a warm surface finish over stainless steel. It is used for color and atmosphere, not to imitate precious metal. For that reason, it should be treated more gently than silver tone pieces.
Wenge Wood Handles
Our wenge wood handle pieces combine stainless steel working ends with a natural wood grip. The goal is not just visual contrast, but also warmth in hand and a more grounded, slower-feeling dining experience.
Because wood is a natural material, grain and tone will vary slightly from piece to piece. That variation is part of the character of the product, not a defect.
Daily Care Principles
- Wash with mild soap and warm water.
- Dry soon after washing to reduce spots and keep the finish clearer.
- Avoid bleach, harsh acids, and abrasive scrubbers.
- Gold-tone pieces should be hand washed for better finish longevity.
- Wenge wood handle pieces should never be soaked or put in a dishwasher.
Why This Matters
Yinshiji is rooted in Jieyang, Guangdong, where stainless steel tableware manufacturing is a practical part of the local supply chain. That proximity makes us more careful about material choice and finish quality. We would rather describe care honestly than promise that every piece is maintenance-free.
